Description
This is a bronze memorial sculpture to commemorate the attempt of nine African-American students to enter Little Rock Central High School in September of 1957. The students were met by the immense hostility from white segregationists, the Arkansas National Guard and even the Arkansas governor, Orville Faubus. They were admitted only after President Dwight Eisenhower reluctantly called in the 101st Airborne to protect them.
