Description
This a nighttime image of the Cascades in my hometown of Jackson, Michigan. My great uncle help to build this and it was one of my favorite places to go as a teenager. It was very peaceful walking up and down the surrounding slopes and watch the lights which change colors about every 15 seconds. The falls are 500 feet long, 64 feet high and 60 feet wide. There are 6 fountains, 16 falls and over 1200 colored lights, now computerized. While they cannot be seen in this image, there are also steps that run along both sides of the falls. The Cascades also boasts stadium seats and can accommodate up to 3000 people for a show. While there were only the park and the lights early on, it is now a major tourist attraction with entertainment and concession stands.
