Artist's Description

On December 1, 1955 in Montgomery, AL Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give her seat to a white man. While there are similar buses in other museums, this is the original bus. It sat for many years rotting away in a field being used as a storage shed. After verification that it was the original, The Henry Ford Museum acquired and restored it at a cost of over $400,000. You can Google the whole story. It now sits proudly and beautifully in the Ford Museum outside Detroit, MI.
