Artist's Description

This is the conclusion of the removal of the rebel flag from the state capitol in Columbia SC where it had hung since 1961 as a protest against the Civil Rights Movement. A crowd of upwards of 10,000 people including the woman sitting next to me who came from Washington State, began to cheer and chant "Take it down" and "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey good-by" as the flag was lowered slowly to the ground. When it was finally removed, a deafening roar of approval went up. The event was covered locally and nationally. Though I had to walk several blocks with aching knees, lug my own folding chair and camera to insure a good seat, and wait four hours in the blazing son to witness the historic event., it was worth it. God is truly good!
