This is an image of the removal of the flag of Jefferson Davis, otherwise known as the Rebel Flag. It occurred in front of the State Capitol Building in Columbia SC. This event occurred as the direct result of the murder of 9 worshipers including the Pastor of Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC while they were in bible study. The pastor Reverend Clementa Pinckney, was also a South Carolina state senator and was well loved and respected. This horrible act caused such an outcry across the country that the Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley was forced to take action to have the flag removed. It was witnessed by upwards of 10000 people, not to mention the probable millions at home. I personally left home at 3AM and drove three hours to witness this momentous occasion.
